At New World Home Cooking, Saugerties, NY on Jan 17, 2016. Lenny Kislin has 30+ works hanging throughout this popular restaurant. His work is of found objects and antiques many mounted on old boards. Lenny was in the antique business for many years and these are pieces from many of his finds.

Decisions, Decisions. Assemblage by Lenny Kislin
In Lenny’s words:
“I have been selling unusual antiques since 1973. In the course of hunting for interesting objects to sell, I came across many pieces that were not so salable, but because of their forms, uniqueness, or rarity I was intrigued to the extent that I bought them anyway. I have saved these objects through the years with the intent of eventually finding a way to enable others to see what I saw in them.

In 1991, I began to physically join these forms into conceptual and narrative art objects that I felt utilized them to their best advantages. I have experienced great success and my work is in many public and private collections, world-wide.”

I like the work and find each piece engaging often with a lot of humor. More of Lenny’s work can be seen at lennykislin.com
I was happily surprised to see you at my recent show at New World show. Your presence at the restaurant made it a pleasure to show my art (you being a thoroughly qualified judge without prejudice. I haven’t able to get out much as of late because of my poor health. I enjoyed speaking with you and bathing in the light of your expressive face and your always intelligent assessments of that which the art viewers were gleaning (or should have been gleaning) from merely viewing the art works themselves. Look forward to seeing you again.
